Everyone nowadays wants lighter skin, prominent cheekbones, narrow and stronger nose, etc.





What I don't get is, did this notion of white beauty being the ultimate ideal of beauty result from half a millennia of colonialism and racism OR is because it really is the genetic perfection of the human body (regardless of history)?';What are the reasons for the hegemony of Caucasian features as seen as the ideal/perfect form of beauty?

I think you have answered your own question. Look back into cultures before European colonialism, they didn't have an ideal of straight nose etc...





We only know what has been shown to us over time. Certain civilisations adored fat women. If they were prominant, that would be the ideal now.





Not all people buy into that whole 'European beauty' thing, I have dated guys that actually think its ugly.
