What should I expect from a beauty consultant at a dept store?

Im thinking of buying makeup for the first time! What should I expect from a beauty consultant at a dept store?
Chances are that they will color match you and show you how to apply certain types of makeup, while trying to sell you a good amount of their products. If you just buy the basics(foundation, concealer, blush/bronzer[try to get a two-in-one so you don't have to buy both...sometimes it's a multicolored powder product], liner, mascara, and lipgloss altho you can probably buy concealer and the blush/bronzer and the liner from a local drugstore brand like l'oreal or maybelline), you should be fine. Make sure you don't buy anything you're unsure you really want or need. If your complexion is clear, buy concealer from the drugstore for a lower price. Cheeks are already rosy? Skip the blush and just buy bronzer. Skin already tan? good for you, you can skip the bronzer and buy blush at the drugstore if you want!

Personally, I suggest buying a good foundation, liner, mascara, and lipgloss from the department store because the other stuff is just extra and not always needed.

Good luck! What should I expect from a beauty consultant at a dept store?

and a Cert II In Makeup artistry..

Go to somewhere like MAC, Mecca not napolean or somewhere with mineral makeup- really try get mineral makeup..

Makeup with talc, and other crappy products like that clog your pores, and dont allow for your skin to breathe through the makeup.
Just like everyone else, they are all different. Some will make every product sound good, and try and talk you into buying it. Some may be a little pushy, some of them might rush you, but a good one should ask what you are looking for or what products interest you, and they should do color matches. Good Luck!!!

WOA (word of advice): That department store stuff isn't cheap, I think it would be very wise to just buy foundations, concealers, and/or blushes from them. You can find really good eyeliners, mascaras, eyeshadows, and glosses, at drugstores and beauty supply stores. But that's just my opinion. You would definately get more for your money.
they will push lots of stuff. only buy if YOU think it looks good on you. Don't believe you look great with purple lipstick unless you feel like you look great in purple lipstick. Let them help with the makeup, but you make the choices.
Whatever you expect,

don't expect sex from them.

They get all freaked out for some reason.
that they will try to push a lot of products on you-- go in w/ a list of what you really want %26amp; dont be afraid to say no!!!

Can you give some principle about beauty then explain?

Example ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; can you give some aside from that principle? Can you give some principle about beauty then explain?
Yeah that is True. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

And also Beauty is in your heart. I think True beauty is in yur heart not fake faces. Can you give some principle about beauty then explain?
Beauty is art and art is beauty.

All art consists of two things Elements and principles.

Elements

color, value, line, shape, form, texture and space

Principles

balance, contrast, proportion, pattern, rhythm, unity, and variety.

Beauty is the combination of the these that one finds pleasing to the senses.

balance- equal weight and space - top to bottom and side to side.
beauty is only skin deep.

You can be a gorgeous babe on the outside, but on the inside you might not be so beautiful (mentally).

Beauty comes from within, your self confidence and overall demeanor help shape how you appear to the rest of the world.

For instance, the way someone dresses. If someone has a low self-esteem, they might wear baggy clothes, to hide their true appearance.

It really doesn't matter what size or shape or skin colour you are, you just need to be comfortable in your own skin.
The aside from the above would be that the standards of beauty change. For instance, plump was in during the Renaissance; look at Botticelli's Venus. Now, slender is ideal.
';The beautiful is as useful as the useful, and possibly more so'; (Victor Hugo). Needs no explanation.
Beauty catches your attention..but..it takes something much deeper to hold it.

What are the beauty standards of the Middle East?

For example, in America thin, tan. and tall women are considered attractive, as are tall, strong men. Are the standards similar in the Middle East? What are the beauty standards of the Middle East?
In the Middle East, too thin is almost as bad as too fat. Muscles don鈥檛 make a woman attractive, a smooth, soft woman is preferable. The beautiful woman is the one who鈥檚 thin where she is supposed to be thin %26amp; big enough where she鈥檚 supposed to be big (you know the breast, the waster-hip ratio)What are the beauty standards of the Middle East?
i am from the middle east, so I've seen it all. some love the tan others like being olive-toned or whatever their natural color is. to be thin is popular . curves are not bad either but being ';fat'; or over weight is not popular at all. most people are not overweight. being too tall is not good. Report Abuse

Well yes, and not just in the middle east. All over the world, these that you mentioned are considered ';Beautiful.';

Black people were whitewashed into believing that everything African or Black was inferior, backward and ugly, while everything White or Caucasion was superior, beautiful and desirable. Yet this perceptual distortion could not be effective without a kind of mental slight-of-hand regarding the historical and cultural validity of Africa and African ';Black'; beauty standards.';

It is revealing that the prestigious CBS news program ';60 Minutes'; recently published an article highlighting actress Aishwarya Rai as, perhaps, the ';World鈥檚 Most Beautiful Woman.'; Not surprising, Miss Rai is a very light-skinned woman from India with sharp Caucasian-like features. The article also makes reference to White women of the past who were (and are) projected as the epitome of beauty and refinement. Women like Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman and Elizabeth Taylor.

The problem with this perspective is that it reeks with racism in that it assumes that White women (or those that look White) are the standard bearers for beauty and attractiveness and it makes these assumptions at the expense, neglect and denigration of the multitudes of Black women (in particular) and women of color(in general) through out the world. It is also disturbing because it is done without even a hint of the offensiveness and utter absurdity of it all.

It is as if the White media has become so enamored with the truth of its propaganda and so confident of its effectiveness on the psyches of other races and ethnic groups that it does not hesitate to make these ridiculous and arrogant declarations. And it does so over and over again.

Periodically, magazines and periodicals will announce in bold headlines that some White woman is the ';World鈥檚 Most Beautiful'; or that some White man is ';The Sexiest Man Alive'; thereby insinuating that Whites alone occupy the precipice of unrivaled beauty and desirability.

There is an old cliche鈥?which cuts to the heart of the matter. It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or perhaps more accurately, it could be said that beauty is in the mind of the beholder for it is within the mind that all perception, whether the sense of sight, taste, touch, smell or hearing are registered and conceived. Thus while Aishwarya Rai or Grace Kelly or Britney Spears, etc. may be quite beautiful to some, they may also be quite homely, ugly or repulsive to others who possess different standards of beauty and physical attractiveness.

Moreover beauty standards are perceived according to the cultural norms that people are accustomed to and this has a great influence on how the attractiveness of a person is perceived. For example the cultural norms and beauty standards of the Masai in Africa are different from that of the Eskimos in Alaska. And a woman or man ( regardless of how comely their outward appearance) would be considered repulsive if they exhibited inappropriate behavior in the morally straight-laced culture of the Middle East or even within some devout religious communities within America itself.

What is your thoughts on bangs on girls in beauty pageants?

My 2 kids were in a school pageant last saturday. i have noticed the judges dont pick girls with bangs. why is that? one of mine wore her bangs down and styled, the other had here bangs all in an updo. well tell me your thought on the best hair styles for 7 %26amp; 8 yr old girls in pageants. they looked beautiful but didn't win anything. what i dont understand is why the same girls win every year. I think it's the parents paying off the judges. also the daughter of the main pageant lady won queen, just tell me your ideas on school pageants. i dont pile on tons of make-up on my girls either like some had . i lightly had makeup on them. What is your thoughts on bangs on girls in beauty pageants?
No girls with bangs win. Miss Virginia in the Sunburst Pageant has bangs and its a glitz pageant. Your girls don't have to look beautiful to win. It's about how you present yourself. If you recorded it watch and see if their smile was to fake, if they were walking to fast or not fast enough, or whatever and compare your girls to the winner to see what was different/ same. What is your thoughts on bangs on girls in beauty pageants?
not the old school straight down in front bangs ....but the swoop bangs with an updo are very elegant
If you want your kids to win, give them bangs!
I think those pageants are very annoying. It's true that the same kids win all the time, and usually it is because their parents are rich or they spend all of their time preparing for pageants. You probably had beautiful daughters that deserved to win, but the judges were corrupt. Your daughters don't need ribbons and tiaras to feel good about themselves, and girls shouldn't be judged on beauty anyway. Oops, keep putting the girls in the pageants then if it helps the school and makes the girls happy. Just tell them it doesn't matter if they win or lose, as long as they have fun. Don't get too competitive about these things, though, or it can drive you batty.
Wow, where to start. First off, children with bangs look younger than others without. In pageants, an older, more mature and sophisticated look is what I've seen the judges go for.

As to you not winning, why are you blaming the judges and making excuses? No one's children are really better than anyone else's - but you asked someone to judge yours and this was the result for this particular pageant. Blaming others is a poor example to set for your children.

  • Do you think there is a fine line between beauty and uglyiness?

In a strange way, I think so...I know these are two extremes, but somehow, I think that. Why?Do you think there is a fine line between beauty and uglyiness?
Yes. I feel that females who have a facial scar to be very attractive. The scar is a story of someone who has tried to live and who knows about life's great wonders and who accepts its disappointments. That is somehow the greatest beauty mark, to me.Do you think there is a fine line between beauty and uglyiness?
    yes ther is because

What king is Nabokov referring to in A Russian Beauty?

Nabokov's short story ends with the following lines:

    ';I repeat the words of the merry king in my favorite fairy tale: Which arrow flies for ever? The arrow that has hit its mark.';

Does this fairy tale actually exist, or did he just make it up?What king is Nabokov referring to in A Russian Beauty?
    Hi Trevor,

It seems that the king and the fairy tale mentioned there were indeed MADE UP by Nabokov. There certainly isn't any Russian fairy tale with such words that would be well-known by the Russians.

One researcher mentions that the last paragraph of this short story (the original title is just ';A Beauty'; - ';Krasavitsa';) actually refers to a TEASING GAME of questions and answers that a young Nabokov used to play. His cousin - Nikolai Nabokov - describes how Nabokov would make up ';a writer, a poet, a king or a general'; and would ask questions about that fictional person's life. This game was known to upset the ';victim';, especially if it was his younger sister Olga.

(source: Abstracts of a conference paper by V. Desjatov, 2006, in Russian http://www.philology.nsc.ru/index.php?op鈥?/a> )

Maxim D. Shrayer - a researcher of Nabokov's short stories - suggests that his sister was indeed a PROTOTYPE of Olga's character, in which case the explanation given above makes some sense, being an additional detail hinting at his sister. You can read more on this subject here:

    http://www.libraries.psu.edu/nabokov/shr鈥?/a>

(scroll down to ';11. Olga, Sonia, and Other Russian Beauties';)

You could probably find more background information on this short story (and on the citation in particular) in a good edition of Nabokov's works with commentary.

There's one article that might be helpful as well. It is in Russian but was published in a German magazine WIENER SLAWISTISCHER ALMANACH in 1996:

    http://www.slavistik.uni-muenchen.de/Pub鈥?/a>

The article by I. Belobrovceva and S. Turovskaja is titled ';Krasavica'; Vladimira Nabokova: Vechno letjaschaja strela, popavshaja v cel''; (=Vladimir Nabokov's ';A Beauty';: ';The Arrow That Has Hit Its Mark';).

Hope that helped. Oh and say hi to the beautiful city of Paris for me! :)What king is Nabokov referring to in A Russian Beauty?
    ';The rare, strange thing is to hit the mark; the gross, obvious thing is to miss it. We feel it is epical when man with one wild arrow strikes a distant bird.';

I last saw the movie about 7 years ago, so I can't give any specific advice, but I agree with watching the movie a lot. When you watch the movie, you need to think not only about, what is she doing, but also, why is she doing it.

Why is in Beauty Pagaents They make the woman wear 30 lbs of make up?

Why is in Beauty Pageants They make the woman wear 30 lbs of make up? And Why is Miss Universe always seems to be from Earth? Why is in Beauty Pagaents They make the woman wear 30 lbs of make up?
Because, they want to look good, but it actually does the opposite. If thats what women want to do, I honestly don't care...it's the children in the pageants that really bug me, most of the little girls look like prostitutes ! anyway I think the real objective in pageants is to make females feel super insecure. For your second question, I have no clue, someday I would like to see an alien win.Why is in Beauty Pagaents They make the woman wear 30 lbs of make up?
    Ahaha.

They don't MAKE them wear makeup. Its a personal choice
    interestingg.. :)
    lmao, very true :P

Why do British people have such high standards of beauty?

I'm serious. When i went over there, and showed pics of american celebs the brits said they weren't good looking. And they only pick models (regardless of skin, eye, or hair color) with broad shoulders, hour glass shapes, big lips, chests, big eyes, and long legs. This is the same with so many of their movie stars too.Why do British people have such high standards of beauty?
I haven't noticed this at all.

OK, this is nearly blasphemy, but darling Di wasn't all that pretty, she certainly wasn't model pretty or American actress pretty.

I don't think the Brits have higher standards (on looks) than Americans, but they do have cooler rock stars. Why do British people have such high standards of beauty?
They just make everyone think that, kind of a stereotype.

Like you know how all of the other countries think that we are all 300 lbs and eat nothing but beef, sorta like that
    Well spoken Cadence.

Afterall, we are the ones who brought you Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Kate winslet, Kate Beckinsdale, Thandie Newton, and many other lookers.
They do seem to have high standards. But so do people in Brazil, now that is a tough crowd.
Huh? Have you ever watched British television? They are not that picky.
I don't think that their standards are high, they are just different from ours.
    because they're snobs?
I do not believe this is the case...
... its called anal retentiveness ...
    Good question.

But i don't feel that their standards are so high. I don't know how old you are but in the late 40's thru the early 80's American actresses ( Lena Horne, Liz Taylor, Natalie Wood) of many different ethnicities had global appeal. As did the models (Elle Mc. Phearson, Beverly Johnson) and some singers (e.g. Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams).

I think that these people were the cream of the crop look wise, talent wise, entertainment wise. Since they set the standard, it is very hard for untalented, boring, and typically plain people to be passed off as exceptional nowadays. I think Hollywood and the entertainment industry has gotten lame. That is why very few people in America buy albums, go to theatres or watch tv anymore. It's just boring. Of course, people across the pond can point it out fastest because it's always easier to see someone elses' mistakes from a good distance, but its a bit more difficult to realize you are stuck in mediocrity until you find that there are no cds that you want to buy.

But I am finding that I am beginning to enjoy more Brit actors, actresses, singers, and people from other countries as entertainers because they are not on all the mags, and they don't blab every single thing on their minds, or offend. They are more considerate of their fan base.

How to describe beauty of a lady ?

I am looking for a short but effective line to describe the beauty of a lady.......

Ex- ';Your body is a wonderland'; - John mayer. How to describe beauty of a lady ?
A death sentence. How to describe beauty of a lady ?
    How about something like ';thank God you're not ugly or I'd have a lot of explaining to do to my friends';

Really though - it depends on the particular woman. You have to find the thing about her that makes her different from every other woman. A freckle, a cowlick (a hair that's always out of place), maybe you noticed one of her ears are bigger than the other. Flaws = uniqueness = beauty. Find it - write it.

And thanks DB - That was the effect I was going for.

Anything from skin to hair and nails, etc.

I've heard of squeezing 1/2 a lemon and mixing with 1/4 cup water and wetting your hair and putting that on your hair, lightens it and adds natural blonde highlights. Have you tried it, does it work?

What are your remedies and secrets? :) thank you! What are some beauty secrets and remedies?
the lemon thing does work, i've tried it. it makes your hair glossy and it's pretty cheap too

lemon juice is also good for if you've been a bit too generous with the fake tan

crushed avacado on face is a great face mask - great if you've got dry skin

condition hair leave on and wrap around with towel. leave on for 30 minutes + wash out

exfoliate once a week to keep skin looking fresh and radiant

perfume yourself - you want to smell hot right?

make sure you're getting enough beauty sleep (that's atleast 8 hrs a night)

use anti-wrinkle creams religiously - you don't need anything too too expensive. boots no7 do a good one for 拢16

get yourself a DIY manicure - you'll look smart and sexy

putting olive oil on your eyelashes before bed will help them grow long and luscious

shave in shower - less kinks and cuts

give yourself some ';me time'; every week

organise girly get togethers with your gfs every so often to catch up and get yourself pampered

be yourself, don't overdo it, looking natural is way better than a Jodi Marsh wannabe

hope that helps--xWhat are some beauty secrets and remedies?
ok here it goes theres a lot of them but i will only name a few.....(and yes the lemon thing does work)

1.for smoky eyes i line my bottom lid semi-heavily, blink hard, and run a finger across the line. It smudges way faster and looks more 'I don't care' than the multi-stepped techniques.

2.i always apply foundation before concealer because if you go vice versa youll be wiping of the concealer

3.for hair so it can be healthy i wash it 2 to 3 times a week ( i know it seems gross but im not washing off any important natural vitamins of my hair)

4.for my nails To get super strong nails, keep them trimmed, push back your cuticles, always apply a clear coat, and never bite them

5.to make my lips look plump i apply a highlighting cream or powder right in the center of my bottom lip. or heat up a hand towel in the microwave for fifteen seconds, then rub my lips with the warm towel. Then, I apply lipstick and gloss and my lips look instantly plump

those are only some of them hope it helps :)

Well, I know for my skin, at night, before I go to bed and in the morning, I use ';St.Ives Apricot Scrub';. It exfoliates, takes the dead skin away, and opens up for the new to come out. It leaves your face feeling soft and clean.

If I don't have my Apricot Scrub, I use ';Clinique: Liquid Facial Soap (mild)'; It doesn't exfoliate, but it cleans up all the oils on your skin. Good right before makeup (if you wear makeup).

Before I go to bed at night, especially in the summer, I always put on Baby Powder all over my face. I have oily skin, so at night, sweating doesn't really help with zits at all. So thats why I used baby powder, preferably non perfumed baby powder. I never had a problem with zits after that.

Oh and in the morning, after my shower, I always put on ';Kiss My Face: Olive Oil %26amp; Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturizer';. It's fragrance free, and healthy for the skin. It's body lotion, but the brand is ';Kiss My Face';. :) I use it all over, and my body is as soft as a baby's bum, and it helps heal scars from all things. :) Doesn't clog your pores either. :)

Now, for my hair, I never blow dry it, and it turns out beautifully. I use this Garnier Fructis: Sleek %26amp; Shine kit. It comes with Shampoo, Conditioner, and a hair masque. The mask is simple. All you do is, after you wash and condition your hair, towel dry it, then apply the hair masque and rinse. My hair used to always be dry and frizzy, and barely get a brush through it, but with all 3 of those, my hair can be brushed any time of the day without hassle AND it's nice and sleek. :P NO FRIZZ!

THE BEST THING IS: ALL OF THESE ARE CHEAP AND YOU CAN BUY THEM AT WALMART.

Hope that helps a lot! ^_^

Take Care of yourself and be natural!
the lemon thing works let your hair be in the sunlight for at least 20 min probably after you put that on it works alot better! but i have blonde hair if u have brown it might turn ur hair orange...

oh and i always blowdry my hair from top to bottom going downwards it doesn't damage hair as bad and ceates less frizz!!

    hope this helps
    for hair loss

    -sesame oil

    -an egg

    - some milk

    - boil brennessel and use the tonic

mix all these, put on your hair and wait for 3 hours then wash with brennessel shampoo (optional)

do this 4 times a week for a month or two and you wont get hair loss for a loooong time.
    1. crisco is a good moisturizer for dry scaly patches.

    2. wiping your nails with isopropyl alcohol before putting on nail polish makes the polish last longer because it removes your oils.

How would someone go about putting together a female wig selection and display in your beauty salon?

probably by finding a good company that sells them, and buying a few at a time, so customers have some selection.

    Beauty.........?

okay so I used to wear all boys clothes and had my hair looking like a rats nest. Therefore I was called a boy all the time. Now I straight my hair everyday I have side bangs and layers. I'm a tomboy stuff and always will be, but I dress skater/scene kid now. My face just kinda looks plain. Not pretty but not completely ugly. Just neutral. I have that natural golden tan that peopl would kill for. I have really bad dark circles. I'm currently doing a diet which should help a ton but my face is always remain the same no matter how many pounds I'll lose. My nose is well big on the sides. I'm really strong. My calfs are big but PURE muscle.

To make a long story shorts, what can I do to look really cute but still that tomboy skater/scene chikBeauty.........?
Roxy has really good clothing. it somehow is girly but also skater-ish. if you put a girly halter top with cargo pants and a cropped jacket with a beanie hat, you would still look cute and at the same time skater.Beauty.........?

Ladies only. Is it okay for guys to compliment you of your beauty?

If a stranger comes up to you and say that your beautiful. Just to compliment you. No harm intended not even a pick-up line. Do you think it's approriate for us to even say that to you. How do you feel when you are complimented by this by a complete stranger?Ladies only. Is it okay for guys to compliment you of your beauty?
That actually happened to me.. Haha.. I think it's a great compliment, It caught me off guard cause it meant he was watching me and checking me out everyday, but then it also boosted my self-esteem. For a man to just approach me and say that was awesome and the fact that he wasn't trying to pick up on me and the comment was genuine definitely made a lasting impression on me. It's also about how you say it too, cause if you say it in the wrong tone you may come off as a creep, but overall it's a great compliment for a stranger to come up to a girl and tell them how beautiful they are :)Ladies only. Is it okay for guys to compliment you of your beauty?
Yes. As long as it's not creepy.

    Good: You look nice tonight

Bad: I'd like to stick my face between your sweet honkers!
that would be weird............don't worry about it though.
i feel very good when i am randomly complicated and this fine and its also a nice reminder once in a while that we not only have beauty on the inside but we look beautiful/pretty as well =)
it's very flattering yet you feel very shy. it's slightly confusing why a guy would start a conversation with that. and a women's beauty is on the inside so it's better to know someone before you say that their beautiful.
It is ok for guys to do this, but then they need to walk away. Otherwise us girls feel as if the guy is wanting something more and that makes us feel uncomfortable. We, don't like you to stand there and stare at us. I love it when a guy tells me he thinks that I am pretty, but it also depends on the guys age. If he is alot older than me, then I am opt to think that he is trying to pick me up not just compliment me, and so I just say thank you and walk away. So, yeah if you want to tell a girl that she is pretty go ahead, she won't find if offensive as you think.
well if I'm with my mom or dad they would flip out and like attack you lol but if I'm with my friends we would just laugh our heads off..but it sure would make me feel good inside :P
i think its very nice and makes me feel pretty good

I'll be studying in about 3 years time but I'm looking to gather information on academies and possibly call or e-mail information and questions if anyone could help me out that would be awesome :D.I'm looking for information on the best or any award winning beauty schools in Los Angeles?
Congratulations on picking an awesome career path. Cosmetology careers are some of the fastest growing in 2009 -- even with the recession.

There are tons of hairstyling schools and makeup artist schools in California and the Los Angeles area. Below I included links to a directory of makeup artist training schools and cosmetology schools that you can narrow by your zip code to find the ones nearest you. Once you find schools you're interested in, you just hit ';Request Information'; and they send you everything you need to know to get started.

This is absolutely the fastest, easiest way to find what you are looking for. Check out the rest of the site, too - it's got a blog with tons of useful career and education information, information about state licensing requirements, and salary and career information (I included the link for that too).

Let me know if you need anything else at all. Good luck!

  • Do i have to represent my school if im going into teen beauty pagents?

When i go into to teen beauty pagaents do i have to represent my school? and do i have to get staright A's or B's ?Do i have to represent my school if im going into teen beauty pagents?
As and Bs would be nice so people dont think your just in it for beauty, you know? But nah ditch the school. Its about you! (but dont do anything too bad!!)Do i have to represent my school if im going into teen beauty pagents?
No. Unless the pageant is involved with the school, You don't represent your school. But getting good grades is always good.
I'm sure the creeps and pedophiles watching the pageant won't care if you have A's or B's

How do you make your self esteem better if you have a beauty mark and people are making fun of you for it?

I have self esteem issues and I have always thought that I was ugly because I had a beauty mark. People tell me they make fun of me because they were jeaulous and wanted what I had. But I just don't believe it. Can you help me?How do you make your self esteem better if you have a beauty mark and people are making fun of you for it?
It is called a ';beauty'; mark for a good reason. Beauty marks are beautiful and make you an individual. Who cares what other people think. Madonna, Cindy Crawford, etc all have them and I think they are gorgeous! How do you make your self esteem better if you have a beauty mark and people are making fun of you for it?
Do they not realise the name? BEAUTY mark.
A lot of people love beauty marks. It makes you unique, and they're cute. A lot of famous celebrities have them!

    Marilyn Monroe, for instance. http://www.skinema.com/monroe.gif

So embrace it! It makes you beautiful! You don't want to look exactly like everyone else, do you?
I have a bunch on my face...I hate a couple of them as well. Honestly, you can get the lasered off if you want. The more you talk about them the more you won't like them %26amp; the more people will point them out to you.

If you ignore them %26amp; don't discuss them it doesn't give people that opportunity to talk about it...unless they just want to be an ****** about it. If that's the case you don't need to hang around those types of people anyway.
I use to have a beauty mark on my upper left cheek and I hated it!! no one made fun of me for it though because I always hid it behind my hair. I eventually got it surgically removed and I feel a lot better about myself now. If the mark is too deep, laser treatment won't work (it didn't work for me). I understand about having low self esteem issues because of it, I felt that way all the time when I had it. Since the laser treatment didn't work, I had it removed by knife. It didn't hurt because they numbed it with a shot first. They gave me like two stitches and that was it! It's considered a cosmetic surgery so your insurance won't cover it. and you know what's funny? When I got it removed my boyfriend told me that he had actually liked it! Hope this helped a bit.
I have a mole on my left shoulder. I used to hate it.. but now it doesn't bother me. you just have to learn to like it. its a part of you and it will always be there (unless you have it removed) now when i look in the mirror i don't even notice it anymore. its been there since i was born and now its just another normal thing.

    I NEED BEAUTY TIPS!!!!!!!! FAST

doesnt matter wat about just lots of beauty tips! :]Beauty??????
Eyes - eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara - get them in different colors and create your own look!

Lips - always use chapstick. %26amp; maybe some scented lipgloss.

    Face - use a face lotion [like olay], but make sure your not allergic to it! %26gt;.%26lt;

Hair - use a hair mask every week, wash every 2 days, and go to seventeen.com for hair ideas!

Skin - drink lots of water for clear skin, and exercise daily. you'll feel the difference :]Beauty??????
Lips- To have soft smooth lips brush them with a soft tooth brush to take off extra skin. Dry your lips and apply lots of chap stick

    Ummm....

Makeup- For a natural makeup look wear minimal mascara and only line your top lids with a dark brown or black. Add lip gloss and you are good to go!

Hair- Putting your wet hair into curlers over night gives you REALLY REALLY tight spirally curls. So unless you are going for hair that is twice as big and curly as Taylor Swift's, don't do it.

    Thats all I got... sorry
    DONT cake on your foundation!

%26amp; if you don't need to wear it,

    then don't!

    Haha.

If you're going in the pool, be sure not to wear mascara, unless it's water proof!

    Lol.

Isn't allowing breast implants in beauty pageants similar to allowing athletes to juice up for competition?

Isn't that the same thing as the steroids issue? Is this another double standard? What are your opinion on this?Isn't allowing breast implants in beauty pageants similar to allowing athletes to juice up for competition?
You make a very good point. It basically is the exact same thing in my opinion. If you're fake you shouldn't be able to compete with the women who have real breasts. They could simply have separate contests just for women with breast implants.Isn't allowing breast implants in beauty pageants similar to allowing athletes to juice up for competition?
It's an unfair advantage to the women with natural breast particularly since everyone is covered in swim suits. You can't always tell who's enhanced and who's natural unless women are in the nude ( or at least I can't). It's also encouraging the unhealthy practice of loading one's bosom with silicone. If those bags rupture or burst it creates a horrible health complication for women.

edit- Steroid prohibition was introduced initially based on arguments for concern of the health of the athletes. I see no reason why silicone shouldn't be treated the same in pageants since it's been proven to lead to decline in health in the latter years of a large number of women.
I agree. I have nothing against breast implants. I personally think they don't look as good as the real thing and wouldn't get them myself but I know that some girls feel so self conscious that they have no boobs and don't feel feminine who would get them...BUT I thought beauty pageants were supposed to be based on natural beauty? Putting blobs of silicone in your chest isn't natural and is enhancing your appearance and improving your chances of winning much like steroids do for athletes.

It would be horrible to ban women with breast implants from joining in because it must have taken a lot of courage for them to go through with the boob job and this would be another blow to them just when they had begun to feel comfortable in their body - 'you weren't born with those boobs so you can't take part.' It's difficult to know what would be fair and what wouldn't upset people but then again if you let ladies in with breast implants, wouldn't the other ladies in the pageant be upset because they would feel the woman had an unfair advantage?
I tend to agree with you. The excuse given by the pageants for allowing this is that supposedly they are not ';beauty'; pageants but ';scholarship'; pageants, or some such nonsense they made up to appease people who thought they were exploitative and demeaning to women.

(Donald Trump is the power behind the Miss USA pageant. 'Nuff said)
Really you could say make-up is a performance enhancer in beauty pageants if you wanted to, and banning that would pretty much ruin the whole deal, since beauty queens can't go without at least 3 gallons of makeup on during those things.

It's not really a double standard since they are entirely different fields.
No I don't think that's a fair comparison. The beauty contenstents have many fake components anyways....Fake spray tan, fake extensions, fake eyelashes, makeup to cover any skin imperfections, lumineers (fake teeth), etc.

It's about who is born genetically good looking but also who spends all the time and money on spray tans, extensions etc to look like a barbie doll.
According to Parez Hilton, it cant be about a womans brain, because there are thoughts, feeling and beliefs inside it that may not make everyone happy. So she cannot expel those thoughts.

So it must be about beauty and that would warrant the womans body to be natural in every way.
If that were the case, they should have to ban false eyelashes and makeup as well. Although I think they should have to compete using their natural beauty, if they ALL get implants, it's not really an advantage for any of them, only for the guys who are watching the pageant.
If it was a competition soley based on the attractiveness of a woman's breasts then it should not be allowed. I would like to think that the woman would still have won whether her breasts were small or large in a normal beauty pagent..
Yes, that's a good way of putting it. But as I said before, they don't care whether or not the entrant is naturally beautiful. They care about how well she matches the prototypical pageant look.
Yes. But beauty pageants aren't judged based on breast size, there are other things involved. In sports, really the only think you use is strength and agility which can be increased by taking steroids.
I concur. I think that if it is to maintain its integrity, this like breast augmentations should be banned from such contests.
as much as I appreciate the aesthetics of a beautiful female body, I have to agree 100%! This is a very good question and point.
    I agree.

And how about performance enhancing chemicals?

    Make-up.
    I agree entirely.
    yes. the exact same thing.
i think they are fine for beauty pagents

Does anyone have any good homemade beauty recipes for the face?

%26amp; please none with Honey, that's all I can find %26amp; I don't have any honey:/Does anyone have any good homemade beauty recipes for the face?
I've literally spent 3 years finding the best homemade beauty recipes, and the best I have found so far is steam.

Fill a bowl with boiling hot water, put your face over it (not TOO close.) And a towel over your head and bowl to keep the heat in. Stay like that for 5 minutes, exfoliate your face with brown sugar, wash off and steam for another 5 minutes. Exfoliate once more. Wash with cold water, and rub toner on your face.

The heat opens your pores. The exfoliation gets rid of everything IN the pores. The reason for 2x exfoliation (or more, if you wish to) is because it takes a couple of times to get rid of the dead skin cells that cover the pores opening. The cold water+ toner closes your pores.

Do it daily for a week, and 3 times a week from then on.Does anyone have any good homemade beauty recipes for the face?
    Honey Mask Recipe

The best facial mask is honey. Place a cloth in warm water and apply to your face to open the pores. Smear on honey, and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then use cold water to close the pores. Use once a week.

Do you know if the bulb can be replaced in one of those beauty mirrors?

It's the kind that has a regular side and a magnifying side to it. If so where would you get the replacement bulbs?Do you know if the bulb can be replaced in one of those beauty mirrors?
Of course, if an item has bulbs, they can be replaced, whatever the item is, of course always being very careful when working with something you don't want to shock yourself or break, unplug first, then look for clips/slots/screws on the back or sides of the item, that will be your way in to replace the bulb, also always good to keep the instructions on any item, maybe somewhere in the booklet it might give you some idea of the wattage, never ever put a bulb in before being sure of that, trust me, I put a 40 watt bulb in one of those touch lamps that clearly stated no higher than a 25 watt bulb on the bottom, and poof, fried the connections under the plastic bottom cover, the control box with the wires and connections was fried, smelled the burn smell, so I learnt the hard way, ruined the lamp but something as simple as that could start a fire, especially if left on when leaving the house, lucky it zapped right away when I turned on the lamp instead of later when I was maybe away.Do you know if the bulb can be replaced in one of those beauty mirrors?
yes it can with a few modifications

Beauty is skin deep, and tattoos go all the way to the bone?

    ';The world is divided into two kinds of people: those who have tattoos, and those who are afraid of people with tattoos';

';the difference btw tattooed ppl and untattooed ppl is that tattooed ppl are way cooler and can kick your ***';Beauty is skin deep, and tattoos go all the way to the bone?
That and also that us tattooed people don't care if you aren't tattooed.

And for all you dummies who keep asking me: YES it hurts! But oh so worth it.Beauty is skin deep, and tattoos go all the way to the bone?
    Jo ,

I have to disagree with you on the tattoos. I will admit that at one time you may have been correct, but since about 1994 the tattoo subculture has been hijacked by the posers. Having at tattoo in this day and age has little to do with being a bad *** or having lived an interesting life. I myself am bothered by this I got my first tattoo when I was fourteen and went haywire wire when I was in the Navy as a result of that I have nineteen tattoos on my body, and it makes my blood boil to see people like Avril Lavigne, or Cory Haim sporting their ink. I'm sure that you are equally annoyed, the good news is that the trend is at a decline and in twenty years time tattoos will be dark and mysterious again and be on the likes of bikers, soldiers, sailors, rockstars, and bouncers and so on people like Rob Zombie or Chuck Liddell will continue to get inked and the posers will find something else to ruin, just like they did to cigars.
    facinating
    Is this even a question?

You need to get your GED. The classes are simple, and it is better than nothing. Most schools require an HSD or GED when applying for enrollment. This will help you not only in school life, but also with finding a good job.
    yes
I don't know anything about Illinois, but I think you should get your GED! I just got it and it was really basic, mostly reading comprehension. And it didn't cost much at all. You can't do much of anything these days without some sort of high school diploma or equivalency.

Which areas have the best scenic beauty around the Atlanta-Metro area?

I am leaving the state of Georgia because nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING has worked out for me here. However, I would like to see some of the more beautiful ';safe'; and scenic areas before I go. Currently, I reside in Cobb County and have seen plenty of trees and forests, but no miles of open, rolling green hills. Does the Atlanta-Metro area have neighborhoods like that or do I have to travel further north or south?Which areas have the best scenic beauty around the Atlanta-Metro area?
    Where to begin.

Stone Mountain Park is very nice, especially during the fall; you will want to avoid the crowds so go on a weekday when school is IN session.

East of Atlanta there is a very nice monastery in Rockdale County that offers solitude, home made bread and fruit preserves.

North of Atlanta there are the mountains (weekend rentals in Big Canoe are nice) and keep going up to Blue Ridge in Fannin County to see the Asca Outdoor recreation area.

Not so far north you can see some nice hills and views in parts of North Fulton County, Northern Cherokee County, parts of Forsyth County, Pickens County (Jasper has a marble festival to celebrate the marble quarries in Tate), and of course Gilmer County (Ellijay) has the annual fall Apple Festival and numerous apple houses dotting the countryside. Bartow County (Cartersville) has Barnesly Gardens...very nice.

Lake Lanier %26amp; Lake Hartwell are nice but Lanier can be very crowded since Gwinnett County has gotten so populous.

West and south of Atlanta there are some wonderful green rolling hills.

The further you get away from cities and towns the better. Ther is a LOT of rural Georgia out there to explore and enjoy.Which areas have the best scenic beauty around the Atlanta-Metro area?
The Botanical Gardens are excellent. Also take a ride up I-575 and hwy. 5 thru the mountains. Beautiful!
Miles of open, rolling green hills can be found east of the city - toward Augusta (have you been to Athens?) and south towards Macon (Conyers - try going to the Monastery, it's beautiful). West toward Montgomery or out I-20 to Carrollton (toward Birmingham). You have to get out of the foothills and further into the piedmont region. Not sure what you mean by safe ... Piedmont park is that in a nutshell. (any golf course?) lol :)

I hate to hear things haven't worked out for you here - but if you haven't made the drive to Savannah you ought to before you go.

Go north, and you'll find more forests, trees and mountains. Here's a topography map so you can pinpoint the type of terrain you're looking for:

    http://geography.about.com/gi/dynamic/of鈥?/a>
You need to travel north to see the GORGEOUS mountains. I have been there and they are breath taking. I live in the Metro- ATL area and its not that far away

How do you save money on groceries and beauty products?

Use coupons whenever possible. Buy what is on sale. Buy the store brand generic equivalent instead of a name brand.

Beauty products? Don't buy name brands for mascaras, bases, lipsticks, blushes, etc. Basically it's all just mud on your face. Buy name brand perfumes if you like the scent and can't find a cheaper equivalent. How do you save money on groceries and beauty products?
Don't buy so much food (helps get rid of fat, too), and don't mess with your pimples so much. How do you save money on groceries and beauty products?

Make a spaggetti bol 1 night with the remaainder make brevilles the next night .
I buy mostly store brands. I shop at Wal Mart. Beauty products? Not me.
by putting them up your sweater and walking out the store!
My former sister-in-law used to use coupons all year long and when their wedding anniversary came up, they used the money she saved to have a night out on the town.
Avoid beauty products if they are not really necessary. Soaps and toothpaste are fine, but make up? Very expensive.

As for groceries, avoid buying ready meals and processed foods. Stick to first ingredients. Vegetables are NOT expensive. It's a common myth.

What's the point in females participating in beauty pageants?

Now why can't they have male pageants? What's the point in females participating in beauty pageants?
Weeell, I suppose they could, but they would only be popular with women. The people that sponsor women's beauty pageants, know that both sexes watch them. That sells their products. What's the point in females participating in beauty pageants?
They enjoy it, otherwise they wouldnt do it, and there have always been are male pageants. Body building competitions, Olympics, there are alternative/gay pageants, most eligible bachelor etc

    There are male pageants.

and as Kris has pointed out, its market driven.
Capitalism, women don't want to watch a male pageant and women who would want to watch a male pageant wouldn't want to watch women who want to ruin the pageant for the male participants.

If more women wanted it, it would exist. Supply and demand.
It's something to spend 1 on 1 mommy/daughter time. Dress up like a princess and wear beautiful costumes. Some women take it too far, but it's just supposed to be fun.
I hate beauty pageants, especially the little girl ones they are really sick. beauty pageants have no purpose in life.
Why would you be whining about there being female beauty pageants but then be all for the male pageants? Let people do what they want as long as they're not hurting anyone and shut up about it.
Beats the heck out of me. Though there is prize money involved. They do have male pageants as well, Mr. Universe and so forth. They're bodybuilding I think.
So their fat and unattractive mothers can get some self-esteem knowing they gave birth to a crown-wearing mannequin doll.
    they do have male pageants

    they are called bodybuilding competitions
Basically, some women feel they're so beautiful that she needs to share it with the world.
    Chippendale dancers, lol.
Tad jealous? I'd love to see a male pageant :D ';And next is the swimsuit round'; ;)
They do have male beauty pageants. But they are gay.

I think lots of beauty products are unnecessary regardless of the amount of toxic ingredients that are in them, that is why I have refused and stopped using make for the last 5 years, my skin is better than ever. Does anyone live in Anchorage Alaska who like beauty products?

    Hi,

I am wondering if there are any girls ages 18+ who like health and beauty products? And are worried about their products having chemicals or animal products in them?

Has anyone ever read A Great and Terrible Beauty?

Is there any romance in the book? I just bought it, along with its sequel, Rebel Angels. Did you like it? It looks really good and is being made into a movie.Has anyone ever read A Great and Terrible Beauty?
Yup I've read them and I really like them =D

The third one comes out this december as someone already said.

Mm, there's a bit of romance but expect some more in the third book. I've read about it in Libba Bray's livejournal.

    I'm super excited.

If you want to read an amazing romance book, read twilight by Stephenie Meyer =D and if you like it read New Moon and Eclipse. They're currently my favorites.Has anyone ever read A Great and Terrible Beauty?

Yeah it has a lovely bit of romance especially the second one. The third comes out in December. Happy reading!

What do you think about young girls in beauty pageants?

i saw a big of ';toddlers in tiaras'; and i almost threw up.

opinions? What do you think about young girls in beauty pageants?
Well, there are two things I generally notice, or think about this subject.

The first is, the pageants can give the girls exposure, as far as how to act in the real world, or give them more insight in how to keep their standard of beauty up. But the first problem I see is, the pageants do not give the girls a chance to be just that, ';girls';. It can and often does rob them of their childhood. Think about it. The girls in the age range of 3-10 years old spend so much time, getting ready for their beauty pageants and trying to be perfect that they are no longer children. They become dolls that only strive to win a prize that in the end doesn't matter so much. Children should be children, and not be drones. Which leads to my next point.

I think it represents how the parents are meddling in their childrens lives. I have nothing against pageantry contests, but only when they are done right. The children often times are just used by their parents to live out their own dreams, instead of letting the children have their own dreams. The parents need to let the children grow up, and decide what they want to do. I don't like how parents are so focused on winning that they cause the children to go through stress and heartbreak. So overall I don't like it but I do think if done right, it can be a great experience. What do you think about young girls in beauty pageants?
I don't like it at all.
I think their cute and if that's what their parents want them to do....that's what their gonna do
its not right. teaching kids to judge on looks.

Is it true that to have a gap in between your front teeth is considered beauty?

';Open teeth'; Gap in between two front teeth considered beauty in Africa? Is it true that to have a gap in between your front teeth is considered beauty?
Idk but supposely, people with a gap in between their front teeth are very sexual, for example, Madonna. Is it true that to have a gap in between your front teeth is considered beauty?
depends on who you are asking. personally, i don't really love it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..some ppl might think its pretty other's might not.
I havent met an orthodontist who agreed with that thought, and i wonder who told you that. It is neat to have a gap between your two front teeth because

    A. You can squirt /spit at anyone within 3 paces just by forcing it between you teeth ! Imagine that. Lol.

    B. You can entertain everybody by whistling between your teeth.

However, that will be shortlived because the next orthodontist you meet will suggest braces to close that gap.
i dont kno but i have a gap in my front teeth and i use to not like it but dosnt bother me anymore ( =
i dont know about in africa but i had to have surgery to get ride of my gap
It wouldn't surprise me, it's not too bad of a look actually. Besides, that girl Dani won America's Next Top Model with her gap (well...they made her close it a little, she didn't want to and I was mad that they made her do it...)

    But anyways, yeah.
I think it looks beautiful........I know a lot of people from Africa who have that feature........I dunno for sure.......but.......I think it's really pretty and unique...... :)
it depends on who you ask. beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I was told that having a gap between your two front teeth meant you were a liar,';liars gap.'; Fortunately Gaps, moles, cleft lip, pimples, soars, and unibrowns do not make you beautiful you make your beautiful...and maybe a couple of dollars.

Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?

I'm confused... Why do women cover their natural beauty with man-made products and call it beauty? Why do they cover their beauty to look like a clown? Some people say it's to enhance their beauty. I call it trying to look like other people. Why don't they just accept themselves for themselves. Why do they want to be someone else? Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?
Totally agree. All that junk people put on they're face just ages they're skin and makes it worse so they feel like they have to put on more to hide the damage. I think its just a big marketing scam that's trying to make every women believe she has to pile on makeup to look beautiful.

    I mean in magazines they have articles like ';10 steps to looking gorgeous.';

Whats wrong with us in the first place? Why do women cover their naturally beautiful face with oils and powder and call it beauty?
i dont know why you are talking about being anti-negativity when you answered someone's question by saying ';STUPID QUESTION!'; Kind of hypocritical dont you think? Report Abuse

Cat fight...rowrrr....women are beautiful....if you can see past all the makeup. Report Abuse

    u look like a female.
I guess the original poster of this question is a natural beauty herself, because she clearly does not need (or want) to wear makeup.

Just wait until your 40. You'll find out how much 'natural beauty' you have left by then.

    Besides :

    1. Not everyone is 'naturally' beautiful. But even the natural beauties can 'enhance' their look with makeup. (Using the proper amount is of paramount importance though.)

    2. Makeup can give some people more confidence and feel better about their themselves. I see no problems with that.

On top of all this, if you don't like makeup, don't wear it! :)
Once you start wearing tons of makeup, your face starts to break out, and your skin gets a bit tired. Then you need all the makeup to look like you did before. Vicious cycle, no?
Isn't there someone else you would rather be?
I personally only wear mascara, eyeliner and a gloss for my lips, that's enough for me. Some women need it, others feel better with it which is more of an esteem issue(in my opinion). I never understood women that wear sooo much make up that if removed you would'nt recognize them.
Some people do not have naturally beautiful skin. It's not easy to walk around feeling self conscience, especially when a little make up can make you feel great!
its whats programed to them they see people on magazines and TV with all that make-up on and they think that's how they become beautiful
may be to cover some valleys and peaks in sur face
Some really do enhance their features with make up. But I agree with you - some women put it excessively and look ridiculous! Esp. when they powder their faces, but not their necks; when they put heavy make up for spending a day outdoors etc.
I have to agree...I think they think it makes them look ';beautiful'; But what is outward beauty when they have an inward ';ugly';? I only use a little concealer under my eyes to hide dark circles.
some people think thy need that crap but they dont
who the hell are you and why is it even your ******* business who does that??!!!
I must answer this question with another question...

    Why do you care?
    Stupid question!
I wear a little makeup. The best way to do it is try and make it look natural like you are not wearing makeup. I wear make up because I have some small scares on my face from a care accident. And I am a natural blond, so my eyelashes are very light. You don't have to look like a clown if you do it right. I think it helps me feel better about how I look. But I also don't have a problem going without makeup if I am at home or just running errands. But I wouldn't go to work without it. Hope that gives you a small idea of what you want to know.
I need to say you are right. I fell into it though, I ware eyeliner and thats about it. But i am starting to learn that a lot of people are becoming agianst the whole makeup thing. I agree with you. No one should cover there true beauty. (-:
They do it because the cosemtic industry has told them to and they believed. I agree with you 100%. A woman with make up looks like ..... a woman with makeup. I'm interested in the person, not the paint job.
    My dear,

You are asking why some woman cover their face with makeups but did you ask your self why did you chose a avatar for yourself which is looking to have make-ups on. WHY? It looks beautiful. Make-ups are not for making clowns but yes those woman who don't know the proper way to look beautiful with the help of makeups sometimes make themselves look like a clown.
    WISE QUESTION

well the simple thing is that women love to be secretive. they dont believe in revealing or DISLOSING e'thg.

thats they keep EXPERIMENTING with their look and

they believe in being thr own lamps therefore they dont confine themselves to the face that God has given them ,

they wanna keep adding smthg to it.ie they wanna make the most of it. which is i think a good thg.

    it shows PROGRESS.
I bring out my natrual beauty, I' am a femine type of pink.

My cousin used to put on heaps of make-up, my mother had a talk with her, she said that she should bring out her natrual beauty, and the health problems with putting all that stuff on her face.

You can enhance your natrual beauty with some man-made products, just choose the right one, isn't harmful, I use bar minerals, actually good for your skin.

    marydazetwen...

How is this a stupid quiestion?
    Because the world is twisted, and has the beautiful people thinking that they're ugly, and the ugly people thinking that they're beautiful, and ugly morons shouting about ';inner beauty.';
I do wear makeup, but not to look like anyone else. I'm my own person %26amp; I wear what I like because it looks good on me, not because it's in style. I wear makeup to enhance my natural beauty, for example - eyeliner brings out the color of my eyes, the same for eyeshadow. Lipstick extensuates my lips as does mascara for my eyes. I don't wear foundation or blush %26amp; I don't do dark colors.
the only thing i use is eye shadow, mascara and eye liner. and a possible powder. i dont use gawdy colors, just light pinks for eye shadow and my husband loves it. he says i look more natural with just that then i would if i used foundation and such. it just depends on what you wear and if you are wearing the right colors for your face. and i cant help but stare at women who wear clown masks. its aweful. makes makeup look aweful.

  • Why doesnt Wal-Mart sell organic foods and beauty products?

I have noticed they dont have organic products for sell!! Why is this? Any other Grocery or drug store I go to they have organic products, why doesnt Walmart? Why doesnt Wal-Mart sell organic foods and beauty products?
They have an extremely tiny selection at the huge Wal-Marts, but it is a very sad thing. If Wal-Mart got more involved in organic and local it would be a great change!

Heh maybe I would shop there...

: ) Why doesnt Wal-Mart sell organic foods and beauty products?
    I'm sure there's a few reasons.

    1. Wal-Mart wants to keep its average price low for advertising reasons.

    2. Organic items don't really cater to Wal-Mart's demographic, and stocking them would not fit into their business model financially.

    3. I'm under the impression at least a few organic companies would refuse to sell to Wal-Mart based on their reputation, although that's disputable.
jeez what walmart are you going to...our super walmarts( we have 3 in the area) have lots of organic products and adding more all the time...we even have all natural dog treats from ';3 dog bakery';,and ';blue dog bakery';. the company itself started putting organic items on the shelf a few years ago,as well as starting ways to save energy and recycling since 2000 and has strived to make improvements every year...and in many stores tried to put things that may interest people ,such as kosher items, asian and latino items..walmart may not be a perfect place to work at ..but there is no arguement that walmart has always tried to put the customers interests first...and why not...the customers pays for our checks
they do sell beauty products and the sell organic food just not as much as regular food
Walmart does sell beauty products and some organic foods.
Because wal-mart is cheap. They are too cheap to have any kind of organic food or beauty product.

    hope this helped.
    Because China doesn't have any.

Can you help me find an Indian Beauty salon in Fresno, California ?

I will be attending an indian wedding reception - I need help with wearing sari, make up and hair. So far i have only found 1 called Bombay look. Can you help me find an Indian Beauty salon in Fresno, California ?
So I looked on http://www.findabeautysalon.com and typed in Fresno into the city and got like a whole bunch of salons over there. But I'm not sure which ones are Indian. But at least you don't have to drive around looking for one and you can just Call and ask from here.

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

Who else besides me is absolutely sick of hearing how hot/good-looking/pretty/ beautiful/attractive everyone else is, and then you realize that people aren't saying that about you? Can everyone be considered ';good-looking'; by at least a few people, even if not by many?Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Absolutely. Beautiful to one person can be hideous to another, and vice versa. Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Beauty does vary from culture to culture and person to person. But I've noticed regardless of culture women who appear younger with a more symmetrical face, a smaller waist, and rounder hips were considered beautiful

And for men it's a stronger jaw and facial structure, a v-shaped torso, muscular, taller.
Yes I think its is in the eye of the beholder...

Because some guys like blondes, some like brunettes, some like tan chickes, some like pale ones....It just depends on what you think looks attractive...

Im really really skinny, and some guys think its hot that I am, and some guys think its gross...Just keep your head up and be confident, because confidence is the hottest thing a girl can have!
    sure.......................=)
I'm sure everyone can be called beautiful by some people. Beauty is DEFINITELY in the eyes of the beholder, a lot of people say Adriana Lima is absolutely beautiful, but i find her VERY average looking.

Almost everyone has a different perspective of what is beautiful and what is not, that's why the saying came into use.
    yeah.

    girls call me ugly

    my mom calls me gorgeous

    some guys don't like me

    but i could care less.

it's what i think about myself, not what they think of me.
yea. iv had guys tell me im to fat and my booty is to big or whatever, and iv had other guyz tell me im the hottest chick theyv ever seen. so i think beauty is defenitly in the eye of the beholder.
    ';Can everyone be considered ';good-looking'; by at least a few people, even if not by many?';

I don't think every women on the planet is beautiful. Whether its due to their personality, or looks, or both, their ARE ugly women on this planet. Ditto for men.

That being said, i DO believe that there's someone for everybody. I highly doubt there's a human being on the planet who NO ONE finds attractive.

    Hope that made sense. (:

How much space should there be between beauty couches in a salon?

How much in cm space should there be between the couches in a beauty salon as i have to design this for my beauty homework! Is there anything to do with health and safety regulations that i must comply with?the space needs to be enough for two therapists to work between couches but not enuf to waste space!thanks!!How much space should there be between beauty couches in a salon?
I think if the building is going to be used by the public, then you have to, by law, make it disable friendly, therefor allow a gap of 800mm (80cm) this is the minimum width of a wheel chair.

Good luck !How much space should there be between beauty couches in a salon?
    50cms minimum space,

fitted two the other month,, i thought it was small,, but it was stated in the litreture.

    good luck
If you employ thin therapists, and take only thin clients, then you can buy narrow couches and cram more in.

I think everyone will agree that Asian girls are now the new standard of beauty?

Many whites men tell me and my friends that we are the most beautiful females they have ever seen.

I think white females used to hold the title, but the new acceptance is Asian females.

Do you guys agree?I think everyone will agree that Asian girls are now the new standard of beauty?
Many white men...will tell you things so they can have sex with you.

I wasn't aware that this 'title' existed. There are unattractive, ignorant people in every race, along with attractive intelligent ones. People focus too much on looks; pick up a book, take a walk, engage in an activity that expands your mind.

I think everyone will agree that Asian girls are now the new standard of beauty?
Since when did white girls become the standard of beauty.... In every culture the standard of beauty is different.... But i kinda get what you mean though... I think now days people are getting more expose to asian media and beauty and taking a bigger interest in asian culure.. Thanks to the internet, youtube, etc... It may help slowly break the stereotypes asians here in the US... In a way I kinda agree with you.. Asian girls have very femine features compared to caucasians, which is what men are generally attracted too... Come to think of it, alot of asian celebrities and stars have much nicer skin, hair, and eyes compared to american stars... Even the boys too, I can't think of one american celebrity male that has nice hair compared to korean and japanese popstars...
Well, I am also Asian and have been told by many Caucasian males that I am pretty. I think that many people view Asian women as ';exotic'; and different. Their exotic beauty makes them unique and stand out to others. I wouldn't say that they are the new standard of beauty, but I will say that their beauty is appreciated by many others and that we are a very beautiful people. :) (No offense to anyone).
So I guess you don't care at all how Asian guys feel about how you look?

Or how they feel about Asian girls boasting about your unnatural preference and flirtation with white males?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63bWYFGBT鈥?/a>

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8C5ZnQA0鈥?/a>

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWOUyFOYR鈥?/a>

Its a miracle how much tolerance and forgiveness the Asian men have towards Asian females.

If white females acted like this don't expect such acceptance of this sort of behavior. There would be riots and protests.
it's not so much beauty than fetishism.

you're only attractive because you're exotic. to a man it is erotic to go date ethnic groups. in our minds it feels like we are going to the save the supposed savage woman from her own savage culture. ';Save her from her own people'; is a very old idea. The concept is rather discriminating in a few ways.

One, this idea assumes the woman is powerless to save herself.

Two, this idea assumes the exotic culture is inferior.

It is appealing to men because the idea identifies the girl as a demsel in distress.

The media has also helped sex up Asian girls. Most Asian girls you see in the media are submissive, and guys love nothing more than a personal living sex toy. We see Asian girls on TV and they are all slutty and submissive to the white man, so being stupid men that we are, we think all Asian girls in real life are also slutty and submissive on the inside.

There are college classes you can take about the subject. I suggest you take them when the time comes. It's nice to be admired, but what you are describing is being objectified, not admired.

I'm a guy, it does me no good to tell you all this. I'm telling you for your sake. If you don't like to believe my words (which is understandable) then at least believe Sarah S's above.

    edit:

    I am not ugly !

    I look like a young Lucy Lu!';

Well, forget all I've said before. If you look like a young Lucy Liu, and white men still tell you you look beautiful, then they are definitly flattering you with lies just to sleep with you. XD
I read all the answers to you question and i'm kind of offended. I'm asian. I don't think that we are the new standard of beauty but I defiantly don't agree with alot of the answers. I think asians are very beautiful, but I also think all other women of all races are just as beautiful.
You are so sad Asian girls like you are probably the worst type there is. They are pandering to you and you take it in stride.

All men tell women they are the most beautiful they have ever seen. We are trying to get in your pants. White guys with yellow fever is nothing new. Don't flatter yourself.
what! im white..and im just adorable...if you poke me i just ooze cute..

    ok ok.im lying...i dont ooze anythng..yuck!

but Im certainly not ugly...and would never be mistaken for a man... Im big..( ok hell im fat) lol... but as far as features go..I have round face..full lips.. a kinda small nose and kinda roundish sad looking eyes that are green...kinda like those sad looking porcelian dolls..., my skin is rather pale..and my hair is dark.

so im not ugly by any means.. at least i dont think i am.

but im not petite..Im 5ft7..which i guess is a bit above average height..

but yes.. asian females are very beautiful...but so are many other women from different cultures. :)
You are possibly the most petty person I have ever met. Pro-immigration liberals?! If you're anything but Native American, you're an immigrant, and that goes for Asians, too. If the pro-immigration Liberals didn't have their way, you definitely wouldn't be living in the United States. Show some appreciation.
Asian girls can be very pretty, but so can white/black/hispanic girls. A lot of guys tell me they like petite girls and asian girls normally are so that may be another factor.

If im honest the most beautiful girls i have ever seen have normally been an asian/european mix (ie alexa chung).

    xx
oh please, whatever. you asian chicks can have all the white men you want. just leave me some asian dudes and we'll be fine. oh, and get over yourself, as most white guys see you as a fetish and someone to boss around.
    You're racist.

Well if you want me to answer the question, I'll say asian girls all look the same, for the most part.

So do lots of other races.

So I really think no race ';holds the title';.
    which asian females?

    the blonde ones?

    the brunette ones?

white guys do not decide on the standards of beauty.

    or maybe they do.

Okay whatever...but most Asian girls are not BBW. I like women who are BBW. Race doesn't matter much to me.
i don't think it really matters what race... i think its all in personal preference...why do people always have to pick a ';best'; group, everyones opinion is different
i don't like any sort of self flattery or boasting, but whatever asker.....

okay.... internet's rude answer just turned me on somehow. the idea of someone being slutty and submissive to me is turning me on....
    I actually believe the opposite.
I'm not sure.. There's beauty in every race
get over yourself. you're probably ugly
Well judging by your questions....you are ugly.
    conceided much?
to white guys maybe...to me no.
    uhhhh,no.
    i think some are georgous.

but you my friend are simply just a *****.

    so get over yourself!!!
But they all look the same like twins. European girls at least can have different body types, height, hair colors, eye color, face shape.

Once i watched an Asian movie and started to get lost in the plot, as they all looked the same, lol.

    And who is lucy

    lu btw?

Most people who make tutorials on youtubes don't get paid, its a thing they do in their spare time. Unless they can get sponsored by a company or brand but that means you have to have some insight in business/marketing and be really good at your skill. Some people also have their own products that they sell, but otherwise you can't really make money just by making youtube videos. How can you make money as a beauty guru on youtube?
    youtube is free

and beauty gurus vlog as a hobby.

most of them are actual make up artists and then post videos on youtube to spread the word [just like a fashion blog] and it probably helps their business.

    but everythings free.

you wont make money from it

unless you're promoting your beauty business in doing so.
if you get accepted as a youtube partner - which is usually when you get past 3000 subscribers and have good videos...you get the option to put advertisements on your videos which pop up at the bottom and you get paid everytime someone views your video and the advert pops up...i've heard you get paid $2.50 every 1000 views on your video (if you are a partner)
YOU CAN NOT MAKE MONEY AS POSTING VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE.

Why does the Beast refuse gratitude from Beauty in the novel by Robin McKinley?

This question is about the novel Beauty by Robin McKinley. Why does the Beast say ';I don't want your gratitude'; to Beauty when she expresses thanks to him? If any one read this amazing novel, please tell me. Thank you! :]Why does the Beast refuse gratitude from Beauty in the novel by Robin McKinley?
He tricked her into leaving her home and her family. He doesn't want her gratitude because he feels guilty about it - his kindness is the least he can do to make up for the exile he imposed upon her.

You're right, it's an amazing book! Why does the Beast refuse gratitude from Beauty in the novel by Robin McKinley?
It is a great novel! My sister has it and I have read it a few times.

I think he might have refused her gratitude because he already feels so guilty for retaining her in his castle.

Good question. I'm not very good at discerning motives.

to make her feel special, get her one (or more) brand-name item (i.e. M.A.C. pressed powder/eyeshadow)

any or all of the above should be good
Japonesque Blotting Papers for oil, Covergirl 3-in-1 concealer (it's also a foundation), Altoids mini mints in the tin, Jillie's Crush lip gloss, Great Lash mascara and that should have her covered!
If she likes to have fresh breath you need breath mints, I guss for a oily face i would buy cleaning sheets and the normal make up thing, like what she wears on a daily basses.
    Here ya go:

    +Breath strips or breath mints

+Mosturizer (Aveeno is the best) and is also compact.

+Spot touch up for acne. There are plenty of them.

+Acne Concealor is great as well. They have these sticks that look like lipstick and it conceals and heals pop up pimples.

+Eyeliner and Mascara (If you get stuck somewhere and don't have time to put on concealor and everything...quick eyeliner and mascara with just some moisterizer on your face are good for quick fix)

    +Small samples of perfume.

+Oil blotting papers....Those are great! Just dab on your face and it extracts the oil without messing up your make up.

Good Luck....Make up bags can have so many different things in them.

What is a Press Kit from a Beauty Company?

I have a company I am starting and they have asked me for a press kit and samples of our line. Samples I have no problem but what about the press kit .... hmmm...How should I do it and the person who asked for it is from another country. What is a Press Kit from a Beauty Company?
Generally, a press kit is requested in order to enable someone else to produce materials about your product or company. The most common use is by the press for a magazine or newspaper article, although some people simply request one as a matter of protocol in order to learn more about the company.

The more you include in a kit, the more likely that a writer will simply regurgitate what you give them, since it makes their job a lot easier. This is one reason to give them a lot of pictures and copy.

A press kit usually has things like:

    * A company overview, including management and perhaps some history

    * Pictures of management (high enough resolution for magazine use)

    * Datasheets of products

    * Pictures of products (again, high rez)

    * Whatever marketing drivel you want to give in the form of whitepapers, etc.

For a small business, you may not have all of these things, but a good kit can make you look a bit larger than you actually are, and is a good way to get your own writing into someone else's article by making their job easy.

Also remember that some folks request kits just as a matter of protocol, when researching a company. This can include casual passers-by and competitors. Don't put anything in the press kit that isn't information you want completely public. What is a Press Kit from a Beauty Company?
a press kit is basically all the paper info you want ppl to know about your product, and any advertising things you can send. it is what they will use to advertise your line of product.
dtype2 gave you the same answer I would give.
