I watched an episode on tlc about little kids in beauty pageants. These kids were under the age of 7 and were getting tanned, wearing expensive dresses and wearing fake teeth. For parents who do this why? and for parents who don't what do you think? I understand that these kids get scholarships but why can't they look like themselves What do you think of beauty pageants for kids?
I saw the same shows!! lol
I agree...it is more for the adults. Did you see were one of the grandmas was going on how she needed a car and thats why her granddaughter had to win???
I don't think I would be near as bothered if the kids looked like kids. The fake hair, tans, the fake teeth and pounds of make up is all too much! What do you think of beauty pageants for kids?
These kids are paraded as sex objects for pedophiles. It teaches them at a young age their only worth is their looks and life is a contest about looks.
It teaches them that if they look good enough they can manipulate anything they want out of anybody.
It also is emotionally destructive to the ones who lose.Parents who do this think highly of their kids and want them to be praised,in so doing they get some glory out of it vicariously.
They do not think of the damage they do to these kids and what it teaches them and robs them of.
I saw that too. I think its crazy to make the kids get spray tan, fake teeth, fake hair and expensive dresses because the moms want them to do it. Yes they can make lots of money if they win but most of the kids only like doing it because they want to please their parents.
I am entering my daughter who is two in a local beauty pageant but this one their is no make up allowed. She will have her hair in curls and a cute little dress and no make up and no fake teeth or hair.
Did you see the little girl who won a car and she was four. Yeah it was all for her mom and she didn't get anything besides the trophies.
I think its wrong for parents to put their little girls through little beauty pageants for them to be judged. I believe its taking away their innocents. It's kind of disgusting to look at. At times, they look like little fake barbie dolls. %26amp; when they lose, that really crushes their spirit. Why would you want to do that to your child? I may be kind of old fashioned but I think that make up is for adults. I seriously didn't start wearing make up til I was 18!
No, I would never. My kids both have begged in the past to participate after being sought out by pageant directors. We live in a big *pageant* city. I explained to my kids it is not just about dressing up and getting to wear makeup. Those pageants moms are terrible and brutal and they will tear everyone down for that crown for their little girl. I've been to them to watch friends kids and OMG!! Those moms ';boo boo boo'; when other kids come on stage and make nasty comments to the parents and children backstage. The kids are often in tears and the moms are following them around with a diaper wipe to reapply mascera. If that's not bad enough fights break out and the judges are threatened when their kid loses. The little girls are CRUSHED because they see the anger and disappointment in their mothers eyes when it's over.
Pageants are hell. i told my kids they could play dress and do fashion shows in the living room. That is about all I agree to as far as it goes.
I think if your child comes to you interested in being in a pageant then I think thats ok because its their idea. but as far as tanning and fake teeth thats where I draw the line. that would be fake beauty not real beauty. I wouldn't want my child thinking they had to look that way in order to be considered pretty.
When it gets to the point where the kids don't look like kids anymore (tanning, makeup, capped teeth, God-forbid plastic surgery!) then it has gone too far. I do think it becomes more about the parents at that point.
I think its bad to go all out. But i did one when I was like 8 and it was nothing like that. It was old fashioned and lovely. It was about your interview and your talent and your stage presents. Not your looks. I dont understand why they are doing it like that now.
Beauty pagents aren't for the kids, they're for the parents. The kid doesn't understand what the hell is going on, just to do what they're told.
I find it VERY creepy to sexualize children, or to make up a little kid like an adult woman. It absolutely spooks me out. I loved the way the movie Little Miss Sunshine dealt with it, I think it was perfect.
I think it creates an attitude towards their bodies that is unhealthy!
Girls should be happy with the body that that they were created with,
and really I think it can make a girl(especially older ones) vain and conceited!!!!
I don't know why they go that far, but I think its cute when they wear a cute dress from easter and dance, but when you focus so much on artificial looks ug
I watched that too! I find the whole thing bizarre and it makes the little girls look soooo creepy. I'd be afraid if I ran into one in a dark alley!
makes them fake from a very early age.
