I'm serious. When i went over there, and showed pics of american celebs the brits said they weren't good looking. And they only pick models (regardless of skin, eye, or hair color) with broad shoulders, hour glass shapes, big lips, chests, big eyes, and long legs. This is the same with so many of their movie stars too.Why do British people have such high standards of beauty?
I haven't noticed this at all.
OK, this is nearly blasphemy, but darling Di wasn't all that pretty, she certainly wasn't model pretty or American actress pretty.
I don't think the Brits have higher standards (on looks) than Americans, but they do have cooler rock stars. Why do British people have such high standards of beauty?
They just make everyone think that, kind of a stereotype.
Like you know how all of the other countries think that we are all 300 lbs and eat nothing but beef, sorta like that
Well spoken Cadence.
Afterall, we are the ones who brought you Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Kate winslet, Kate Beckinsdale, Thandie Newton, and many other lookers.
They do seem to have high standards. But so do people in Brazil, now that is a tough crowd.
Huh? Have you ever watched British television? They are not that picky.
I don't think that their standards are high, they are just different from ours.
because they're snobs?
I do not believe this is the case...
... its called anal retentiveness ...
Good question.
But i don't feel that their standards are so high. I don't know how old you are but in the late 40's thru the early 80's American actresses ( Lena Horne, Liz Taylor, Natalie Wood) of many different ethnicities had global appeal. As did the models (Elle Mc. Phearson, Beverly Johnson) and some singers (e.g. Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams).
I think that these people were the cream of the crop look wise, talent wise, entertainment wise. Since they set the standard, it is very hard for untalented, boring, and typically plain people to be passed off as exceptional nowadays. I think Hollywood and the entertainment industry has gotten lame. That is why very few people in America buy albums, go to theatres or watch tv anymore. It's just boring. Of course, people across the pond can point it out fastest because it's always easier to see someone elses' mistakes from a good distance, but its a bit more difficult to realize you are stuck in mediocrity until you find that there are no cds that you want to buy.
But I am finding that I am beginning to enjoy more Brit actors, actresses, singers, and people from other countries as entertainers because they are not on all the mags, and they don't blab every single thing on their minds, or offend. They are more considerate of their fan base.
